FAQ
What is Sunfire Offices?
Sunfire Offices is a co-working space for technologists, designers, and other aggressively productive people. We find that productive and entrepreneurial people are able to find great inspiration and motivation by working in such a community. We are located in sunny downtown Mountain View, CA.
Are you an incubator?
We are not an incubator and do not intend to be one. We do not charge for office access or take equity in companies, and have no interest in doing so. In fact, we prefer to provide this space for individuals, rather than actual startups. The costs of the office are provided through fees paid by our sponsors
What if I am a startup and want to work from Sunfire Offices?
If you are two founders building a product, we welcome you to contact us. If your team size is larger than that, we are likely not the place for you. However, we have connections with incubators to whom we would be happy to make an introduction, and downtown Mountain View has plenty of other office space options for startups. There may even be space in the same building, and we would also be happy to introduce you to our building manager.
How do I work at Sunfire Offices?
Due to limited space, we are unable to provide public access. We seek to make invites to people who have a sustained track record of exceptional productivity or achievement. This can include having founded prior startups with notable exits, being a key employee who has made direct hands-on contributions at a great company, building a product that many people have found useful, or large numbers of high-quality independent self-driven projects. We will also consider candidates with other singular or exceptional achievements, and make all decisions on a case-by-case basis. We find most candidates via referral from our network of members and sponsors.
What is the office environment like?
Our office layout consists of individual offices large enough to each fit more than one person, and we ask our members to balance the need for lively conversations with the need for individual focus. We seek to provide a moderately quiet environment: you won't be shushed like at a library (conveniently located two blocks away), but please be mindful that some of your officemates may prefer a quieter environment to the clamor of open-floorplan spaces.
What do the sponsors get out of supporting the office?
Our sponsors are looking to build relationships with people who are productive and entrepreneurial. They may thus wish to invest in projects emerging from the office, or one of their portfolio companies may recruit someone they meet at a weekly networking mixer.
Does working at the office come with any strings attached?
We ask that office members attend the weekly office networking mixers where one of the sponsors or a company in their portfolio will have the opportunity to give a demo or pitch. These companies might be looking for publicity, product feedback, or recruiting. The demo will typically be followed by an Q&A and an opportunity to socialize.
Are the weekly mixers open to the public?
No, the weekly mixers are private events.
